HESE ARE CHALLENGING TIMES for water
and wastewater utilities as they navigate how to
address the wide range of per- and polyfluoroalkyl
substances (PFAS). Public awareness of these chemical compounds is growing rapidly, raising concerns
about potential environmental and health risks. While
legislation is being introduced on both sides of the border,
there are still more uncertainties than certainties—more
questions than answers.
