Iqaluit Water Crisis, WSP
A state of emergency was declared in Iqaluit in 2021
due to fuel contamination in the city’s water system,
affecting over 8,500 residents. The emergency
response involved WSP identifying the contamination
source and implementing measures to prevent further
contamination. The contamination source, an abandoned fuel storage tank, was traced within a week,
and a real-time detection system was set up to restore
consumer confidence.
