THE RENEWAL project will upgrade the water treatment plant for the
cities of Regina and Moose Jaw. This includes improving treatment
processes, addressing aging infrastructure issues, modernizing
treatment technologies, as well as adding necessary redundancy. It
will rejuvenate the plant, enabling it to meet the region’s forecasted
potable water demands to the year 2050 and have year-round taste
and odour control. Construction began in June 2022 on the project.
Work includes construction of two new summer lagoons, upgrading
the clarification process to DAF, converting the GAC to Biological,
adding the necessary n+1 redundancies, and adding a 1.8 MW Solar
system. The plant renewal project is nearly 60 per cent complete and is
expected to be completed and fully operational in early 2026. •
