Oneida Nation of the Thames
Water Supply System Project • $43 million
THE ONEIDA Nation of the Thames has
been under a boil water advisory since
2019. To resolve this, a $43 million project
is underway to connect the community to
the Lake Huron Primary Water Supply System and upgrade its distribution network.
The project involves constructing an
18-kilometer pipeline to link Oneida’s
existing water system to the Lake Huron
supply near Mount Brydges. Additionally,
the on-reserve distribution system will be

Plant Filtration Upgrade • $40 million
2024 Rank: 37
Location: Vernon, B.C.
Owner: Regional District of
North Okanagan (BC)
Engineering Consultant: AECOM
KALAMALKA LAKE, the water source treated by the Mission Hill WTP,
has previously been susceptible to water quality issues caused by turbidity events and seasonal algae, which are expected to increase with
climate change. The project consists of a new water 昀椀ltration system,
a new building for labs and control rooms, and upgrades to waste
stream handling, related piping and equipment, and control systems,
which will lead to enhanced operations, reduced water quality risks,
and improved redundancy in the system. AECOM will deliver detailed
design and recommended site upgrades for the addition of 昀椀ltration
at the existing MHWTP to help improve water quality, increase access
to clean drinking water, and bolster the resiliency of the plant for the
Greater Vernon community year-round. •
