Real-Time Solutions
Enhancing water network management for better
decision-making at the City of Brandon BY BRIAN BELL
ACING MOUNTING PRESSURES of aging infrastructure, water scarcity, service issues, and fast-evolving technology, water system operators require modern management
solutions to maintain and future-proof their increasingly
complex systems. Such solutions should provide a robust
foundation, serving the needs of utility management teams and
customers alike.
In 2022, the City of Brandon Water Utility embarked on a
mission to address these challenges, aiming to modernize citywide
access to water infrastructure data and streamline their asset management strategy. As Manitoba’s second-largest city, home to over
50,000 residents, Brandon needed a system capable of enhancing
operational performance that a small team could manage. Turning
to Esri Canada’s ArcGIS Utility Network, the City shifted to a
dynamic network model that offered an accessible platform for
real-time sharing of critical water network information.
