Improvements and
construction on the Iona Island
Wastewater Treatment Plant
METRO VANCOUVER is completing improvements
to the Iona Island Causeway to support future construction on the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment
Plant. This work will provide safer access to Iona
Island for all road users, upgrade utilities that serve
the Iona Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, and
support the efficient delivery of materials during
future construction. Construction on the causeway
will take place from mid-2025 to early 2026.
Public access to Iona Island will be maintained
during construction.
Construction impacts may include:
Delays when travelling to Iona Island
Temporary traffic pattern changes
Reduced parking along causeway
Limited access to viewpoints along causeway
